Company History

Shanthi Engineering & Trading Co. was established in the year 1969 and initially we started our journey with manufacturing small gears by way of simple manufacturing process like milling. Later In 1972 we converted Shanthi Engineering & Trading Co to Shanthi Gear Products (P) Limited and started to produce all type of gears for different sectors and stand as your premium choice for power transmission products.

Our guiding principle since then has always been “quality gears”. Our diligent efforts certainly proved out and soon we became the No. 1 (loose) gear manufacturer in the country both in terms of quality and volume. With strong passion & unwavering determination we expanded our capabilities, slowly but steadily in terms of quality, product range, customers and services.

Propelled for growth, in 1980, Shanthi Gears decided to go in for the manufacture of Worm Reduction Gear Boxes. Even among braving competition from leading manufacturers including multinationals, Shanthi Gears’ Worm Reduction Gear Boxes gained quick market acceptance. Today, it is rated way above the competition.

Simultaneously, we started manufacturing Helical Gear Boxes in single, double, triple, quadruple reductions and in various combinations. Hollow shaft Gear Boxes was also introduced. Solid shafts and Hollow shaft Bevel Helical Reduction Gear Boxes followed suit.

The philosophy of Shanthi Gears has been -- the quality of the finished product is always the sum total of the quality of the raw materials and the components put in. Consequently, facilities for manufacturing Patterns, Centrifugal Castings of phosphor bronze rings, Ferrous Castings, Aluminum Castings, Heat Treatment, Forgings, Fabrications and Cutter Manufacturing were also set up, in-house.

Foolproof "Quality Systems" developed over the years ensures products of superior quality and long lasting performance. Our consistency in delivering superior quality products has gained us the prestigious ISO 9001:2000 certification. Various other certifications we possess include AS9100B, AS 9100C, AGMA.

In 1986, Shanthi Gears became a joint stock Company and it is now being listed in the major Stock Exchanges

Shanthi Gears is committed to the pursuit of social welfare. We strongly believe that it is our solemn responsibility to give back to the society our sincere contribution. Accordingly, a Registered Public Charitable Trust (Foundation) namely Shanthi Social Services was created in the year 1996 and 11.31% of the ownership of Shanthi Gears Limited is donated by the promoters.

Shanthi Social Services is engaged in offering education for the less privileged ones, medical assistance for the poor and needy. We are actively involved in rural developments like construction of roads, school buildings and other amenities. Besides, we are running a canteen and a petrol bunk to serve the people. We own our own windmills to manage our energy demands up to 6.66 Mega Watt.
